Pass Plus is a course is designed by the DSA. You can take it at anytime within the first 12 months of passing your driving test. There is no test at the end of it - your instructor will continually assess you throughout the 6 practical modules. The course enables you to gain valuable driving experience and build on your existing skills and knowledge. Not only will it help to boost your confidence on the road but it can also reduce your risk of being involved in a road traffic accident and could save you up to 30% on your car insurance.

Town Driving- this module covers the different aspects of driving in towns. Subjects include: observation, judgement and awareness, eye contact, consideration for vulnerable road users, being cautious but not over cautious and keeping space around your car.

All Weather Driving- This module will focus on correct speed and safe stopping distances plus rain, sleet, snow and ice, mist and fog and bright sunshine. It will also cover the topic of skidding - what causes them, how to prevent them, correcting slow-speed skids, braking on poor surfaces and aquaplanning.

Driving Out Of Town- This module taken on country roads will look at the main differences between driving in town and on country roads. It will include - observing the road ahead, making progress safely, bends, hills, uneven roads and dead ground, keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and safe overtaking. It will focus on special consideration for pedestrians, horse riders, animals, farm vehicles and slow moving vehicles.

Night Driving- This module will look at all aspects of driving at night. You will learn about the correct use of headlights and keeping them clean, adjusting to the dark, judging speed and distance, dealing with dazzle, road users who can be hard to see and parking issues.

Dual Carriageways- This module will cover skills such as effective observation, using your mirrors and blindspots, judgment and planning ahead, safe separation distances, joining and leaving the dual carriageway, overtaking and lane discipline and the correct use of speed.

Driving On Motorways- Topics will include planning your journey, joining and leaving a motorway using slip roads, safe speed in different circumstances, effective observation all round your vehicle, signs, signals and markings, overtaking and lane discipline, courtesy to other road users, motorway fatigue, breakdown procedures, use of lights including hazard warning lights, debris on the carriageway and crosswinds.
